1st phase of capital to be ready in 2019

HYDERABAD: Amid a raging debate as to what stage of construction the AP capital, Amaravati, would be at the time of the 2019 assembly elections, municipal administration minister P Narayana said at the Mahanadu that the first phase would be completed by the first half of 2019.

"The construction of Amaravati would be done in four phases. Of that, the first phase would be ready by the first half of 2019," Narayana told the media. However, he did not spell out what the four phases are.

Sources said the first phase would include construction of key government buildings like the Secretariat, Assembly, Raj Bhavan and chief minister's camp office-cum-residence.

Within the TDP, a debate is raging as to what would electorally benefit the TDP in 2019 - leaving the capital construction half-way or finishing as much as possible.
